H1 GENERAL PAPER (GP) / O&N ENGLISH TUITION BY 90RP STUDENT

Hello!! I am Pei Chong, a tutor specializing in H1 General Paper, English, and Literature. I have scored 90RP for the 2020 GCE 'A' Levels, with distinctions in H1 General Paper, Literature in English, and Economics. I have also attained A1's in English and English Literature for 'O' Levels.
I am currently pursuing a degree in Arts, majoring in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) at NUS with NUS Merit Scholarship. I have also received offers and interviews from Top UK Universities to study English Language and Literature, including King's College London, the University of Edinburgh, and the University of Warwick.
I choose to teach GP and English because they are subjects that can be made fun and engaging through interaction with real-world events and problems. These subjects bring us closer to understanding the world around us and provide skills that are increasingly important in today's evolving political and technological landscape.
What my students can expect from me that other tutors won't provide:
1. Paragraph-by-paragraph feedback on their essays
2. Imparting my students with important critical thinking and communication skills that I've picked up through debating, skills that teachers in MOE schools won't teach because they're in group settings
3. Plenty of practice Oral tests for 'O' Level English (simulating exam conditions) that your child may be missing out on due to their teachers being unable to accommodate everyone

~ My Teaching Style ~
My teaching style is rather unconventional. While many teachers often provide students with all the answers and overwhelm them with example banks, the main takeaway for my students is neither of these.
My students will hear the question: "Why?" a lot from me. This is because my style of teaching is to slowly lead students to the answers that they already have within themselves. I believe that every already student has the ideas and thoughts needed to score their A's, but they lack the skills to generate cogent arguments that are eloquently expressed. The repeated questioning of "Why X? Why not Y?" is important as it gives their brains a nudge in the right direction until they can reach a conclusion and critically evaluate different perspectives themselves.
My style will complement the content taught in their schools - of course, we'll go through plenty of content during our lessons, but I believe that critical thinking and communication skills are what some schools have been failing to deliver.
For GP, we will adopt a global perspective, zooming out and drawing comparisons between the politics and economics of different nations, analyzing how they have developed differently and for what reasons. Then we will zoom in and analyze the fabric of society; how the individual and society intertwine.
What I hope to impart to my students transcends an 'A' on their result slips. I hope to nurture thinkers that are able to critically aware of the world around them and are more than ready to write and speak English at a Junior College or University standard.
The rates for the subjects are:
H1 General Paper (1 to 1): $50/hr
H1 General Paper (Groups of 2-4): $280/mth (2h per week)
O&N English (1 to 1): $40/hr
O&N English (Groups of 2-4): $220/mth (2h per week)
